Music Alive Day 3

Music Alive Day 3

Today was a very busy day in our Music Alive program.  We worked on a multi-track recording of "Twist and Shout" and we'll keeping working on that over the rest of the week.  We also learned how to use GarageBand to create music and sound to accompany movies.  We have a few samples of those projects below that you can see and listen to.

The rest of the day was spent learning how to make beats and importing those beats into software that is commonly used by DJ's to perform dance music.  Then we finished by creating our own video scene that we'll be working on over the next couple of days.  You'll get a chance to see our final work on Friday at 4pm in Kaeuper Hall during our final presentation.  I hope you can join us.

Today we learned how to record sounds and music, and to edit those recordings in GarageBand.  We practiced some songs that we plan to record later in the week and we collected sounds around the music building and outside that we used to make new songs.

Here are some examples of what we created:

Music Alive Day 1

Music Alive Day 1

We had a great time on the first day of our Music Alive program this year.  We worked on our musical skills by playing drums, doing some music reading, and creating our own rhythms.  Then we worked on pieces in the music lab that were in the ABA format.  Students learned how to use music samples and combine them to mark interesting textures and sounds, as well as learning how to use the piano keyboards to enter music using a variety of interesting sounds.

Here are some examples of our ABA pieces:
